05

Lip Blush

Pre-treatment Care

Strictly NO caffeine or alcohol 12 hours before appointment.

This includes (but not limited to) energy drinks, coffee, tea, and soft drinks.

Exfoliate and moisturise dry lips every day for a week prior.

Avoid sun exposure and sun beds for one week prior.

Please inform us of any medication you are currently taking.

COLD SORES

Lip Blushing will NOT give you cold sores however, if you have had cold sores in the past, this means you already carry the herpes simplex virus. If this is the case, Lip Blushing can aggravate this and bring out cold sores during healing.

To help lower the chances of the virus remerging, use anti-herpes medication (e.g Zovirax) 5 times daily for 1 week prior or anti-herpes tablets (e.g Acyclovir) for a few days before AND after your treatment.

You MUST make us aware that you are prone to cold sores at your appointment and we have to see proof that anti-herpes medication has been taken prior.

Please only take medication after speaking with your doctor to ensure it is safe for you.

IF AN OUTBREAK OCCURS AFTER TREATMENT

It may happen around day 3.

Avoid touching or picking the cold sore.

Gently cleanse the area around the cold sore with mild soap and water to keep it clean. Avoid excessive moisture or occlusive products that could prolong healing.

Apply a topical antiviral cream.

Let us and/or a healthcare provider know.

If you suspect the cold sore may be infected, seek medical attention promptly.
